Hello!

We are Kelly and Garon Smoak, owners of Smoak Studios. We met in 2011 through a mutual friend and have been together ever since. In March of 2017, we got married.

Garon has been a pipewelder with the Savannah Local Union since 2013 and is now a AWS CWI. 

​

Kelly has been doing photography in some capacity since 2006. She has been published in several books and magazines, worked in freelance and documented weddings. 

​

We had always had the dream of living and working on the road, to travel from place to place while still earning a living. Yearning for a different lifestyle became a normal conversation for us, almost daily. 

 

On May 3rd, 2019, Garon got the call that changed our life and sent us packing immediately. He was gone by the morning of May 6th. Destination number one. The beginning of our dream.

 

Michigan.

Kelly remained in Savannah to pack up storage belongings and sell the rest of the household items. Her and their sweet dog, Maddie, started out on June 27th and pulled into Saint Louis, Michigan on June 30th.

​

We lived in and explored Michigan for 6 months together before we moved to our next location; Nebraska. There, in Lincoln, we spent the rest of winter in our little apartment in the city. Maddie liked the dog park and walking trails nearby, even in the ice and snow. She's Maddie Icewalker now. After spring thawed out everything, we moved to South Dakota, and again to Kansas.
